Abstract

The broiler industry is one of the fastest-growing branches of poultry production and plays an important role in meeting the demand for animal protein. In recent years, Türkiye has become one of the leading countries in the global poultry sector due to its increasing production capacity, modern integrated facilities, and export potential. This study aimed to evaluate the development of the broiler industry in Türkiye over the last ten years. Data used in the study were obtained from the databases of the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, BESD-BİR, and FAO. Broiler meat production, slaughter numbers, per capita poultry meat consumption, export status, and economic changes in the sector between 2016 and 2025 were examined. The findings indicated that the Turkish broiler sector has grown significantly over the last decade and its production capacity has increased considerably. However, feed costs, dependence on imported raw materials, and periodic disease outbreaks remain important challenges for the sustainability of the sector.
