Regarding nutrition, the human species has undergone numerous changes throughout its evolutionary and social history, from the hunting and gathering stage, including the discovery of fire, to the application of agriculture and modern times. These changes have had a direct impact on dietary habits and behaviors, while also significantly affecting some aspects of human health and development. Although human nutritional needs are similar to those of other species, they have varied since the earliest periods of history. These needs have varied depending on many factors such as size, temperature, and physical activity, and differences have also been observed between countries and regions. Factors such as religion, recognition, and sociopolitical conditions are also among the factors that influence the formation of dietary habits. In primitive tribes, the diet of hunter-gatherer tribes consisted mostly of plant-based foods in tropical regions, while animal-based foods were prevalent in colder regions. The first revolution in human dietary habits was the "discovery" of fire. Fire allowed humans to utilize food more efficiently. Cooking facilitated the digestion of food and eliminated potential toxins. Today, the decrease in existing food resources in the face of an increasing population has led scientists to research alternative food sources. In the future, many new generation foods such as high-protein insects, genetically modified foods, and lab-grown meat and seafood will take their place on the shelves. Food security and sustainable food systems are also important issues that have been focused on recently regarding animal products, which have played an important role in the development of humanity. This study will discuss the place of animal products in the development of humanity and the importance of animal foods in healthy physical and mental development.
